Pleasant Ridge County Park has several trails that are accessible for adaptive riders.
The Dual Slalom course has been widened and made accessible for adaptive riders. Although the course is relatively short and fast, it is rated as an intermediate trail for advanced riders. It begins from a platform and drops down to several rollers, table tops and berms. Riders can park at the lower parking lot, and then proceed up a steep climb to the top. Adaptive riders should be aware of a tight turn to get on to the platform.
The Beginners Loop is a short quarter mile loop rated easy for beginners. It has several rollers to keep the flow going, but has minimal obstacles to impede riders. The Beginners Loop is a great trail to practice or warm up on. It is separated from the main trail system and is accessed by riding up the road from the eastern most parking area near the fishing lake. Adaptive riders should be aware of a tight turn to get on to the loop from the access trail.
The Long Loop is the longest of the accessible trails, and riders will encounter several challenging features. The Long Loop is rated as an intermediate trail for more advanced riders. Riders will navigate an off-camber rock surface, several bridges, several challenging switchbacks. Riders will also have the option to navigate down a sloped rock onto a bridge.
***It is always highly recommended that adaptive riders bike with non-adaptive riders who can assist in case of an accident.
